Hey aj310, welcome back. You're asking about PassThru for Xentry — need to clarify what's broken first so I can point you in the right direction.
What exactly stopped working?
- Do you have a physical J2534 PassThru device (Softing, Drew Tech, Tactrix, etc.) that Xentry no longer recognizes?
- Or did your Xentry PassThru license/activation expire and now it won't let you connect?
- Or are you trying to use DoIP over a generic Ethernet adapter and it's not being seen as a valid interface?
If it's a hardware question:
Xentry works with any J2534-compliant PassThru device. Popular proven choices for Mercedes:
- Softing eCOM (expensive but rock solid, DoIP + CAN + K-Line)
- Drew Tech Mongoose (good all-rounder, multiple vehicle brands)
- Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 (budget option, works but slower)
- Generic China C6 clones (hit or miss, some work fine, others are junk)
If it's a software activation question:
If Xentry itself is asking for PassThru licensing or blocking connections, that's a different problem — the OpenShell builds usually bundle activation, but if yours expired or was never applied you'd see that behavior. That would need the patcher/kеуg** from the OpenShell package, not new hardware.
Tell me which scenario fits and I'll give you the exact next step.
